Lexus Brands Teams Up with Marvel Studios for Black Panther-Inspired Rides

The Lexus brand has teamed up with Marvel Studios in advance of the “Black Panther” film, slated to hit theaters in February. That partnership has produced two top-notch vehicles that are downright superheroic: A 2018 LC Inspiration Series production car and a concept coupe dubbed the Black Panther Inspired LC. And this is just the tip of the iceberg for the Lexus brand, as the Inspiration Series will continue past this partnership.

“The Inspiration Series takes our flagship products and makes them even more exclusive and distinguished,” said Brian Bolain, general manager, Lexus marketing. “Our collaboration with Marvel Studios’ ‘Black Panther’ features a technologically advanced blue [Lexus] LC and was the perfect inspiration for the first car in the Series.”

The Inspiration Series limited-edition version of the 2018 Lexus LC takes its inspiration from the sophistication and innovation of the Black Panther superhero. The car features a first-of-its-kind paint technique called Structural Blue. The technique, which has an eight-month development process, takes its own inspiration from the morpho butterfly. While the paint has no blue pigment, its unique construction reflects blue light, which highlights the dynamic design of the 2018 Lexus LC and imbues it with an eye-catching motion effect even when parked.

There’s a reason that the 2018 Lexus LC was chosen for this limited-edition makeover. Even without the Black Panther bells and whistles, it’s a cutting-edge vehicle that defies expectations. An all-new platform delivers near-perfect weight distribution and a strikingly low center of gravity, for handling that you have to experience to believe. The naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 engine under the hood is the most powerful Lexus V8 engine ever built, and one of the most powerful naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 engines in the world.

As for the Black Panther Inspired LC, it’s a concept car that applies comic book-inspired technology to a Lexus vehicle. In other words, it’s a really fun piece of fiction.
