2017 Hyundai Ioniq Named Finalist for Green Car of the Year®

Green Car Journal provides enthusiastic coverage of automobiles, energy, and the environment. The annual Green Car of the Year® award is the publication’s highest honor. Each year, vehicles are evaluated on the basis of raising the bar for environmental performance. Factors considered include efficiency, performance characteristics, ‘newness,’ affordability and overall environmental achievement. With these factors in mind, a jury panel of Green Car Journal editors, leaders from other notable environmental and efficiency organizations, and well-known auto enthusiast Jay Leno select a winner. The recipient of the 2018 Green Car of the Year award will be announced on November 30th and the 2017 Hyundai Ioniq is one of only four remaining finalists.

Mike O’Brien, vice president, corporate, product and digital planning, Hyundai Motor America, was excited for the recognition, saying: “The [Hyundai] Ioniq is an important milestone in Hyundai’s commitment to global sustainability, marking a major step in the expansion of efficient, eco-friendly driving. Being named a finalist by Green Car Journal further highlights Hyundai’s leadership in bringing about a better way to drive.”

The Hyundai brand pulled out all the stops for the 2017 Hyundai Ioniq. It is the first eco-focused vehicle in the world to offer three distinct electrified powertrains on a single, dedicated vehicle platform. That platform covers the 2017Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid, Plug-In Hybrid, and Electric models.

Here at Keyes Cars, drivers are floored by the incredible efficiency of this forward-thinking hybrid sedan. Indeed, the 2017 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid boasts a combined mileage of 59 mpg, giving it an astounding range of up to 690 miles. This is accomplished without sacrificing performance. That means a satisfying ride complete with fewer visits to the gas station.
