One of the Honda brand’s great strengths as an
automaker is the drive to stay on the cutting edge of the automotive industry.
The company displayed that commitment to lead when they launched the 2017 Honda
Clarity Fuel Cell at the end of 2016. At the 2017 New York
International Auto Show earlier this month, they upped the ante once again with
the debut of the all-new 2018 Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid and the 2017 Honda
Clarity Electric.
Steve Center, vice president of the
Connected and Environmental Business Development Office at American Honda,
discussed the importance of the Honda Clarity vehicle line to the automaker’s
overall plan and direction: "Electrification is the future of mobility and
the future of Honda, and it all starts now with this new Clarity series.”
Each Honda Clarity vehicle sports a low,
wide aerodynamic body with unique design elements and differentiated front
styling. Inside, each vehicle in the line offers comfortable seating for five
adults. The vehicle interiors feature premium, environmentally responsible
materials. That’s all well and good, but how do they drive? You’ll be happy to
know that Honda Clarity vehicles provide smooth, quiet, highly refined driving
experience thanks to the seamlessness of electric drive torque and
acceleration. A full suite of Honda Sensing™ safety and driver-assistive
technologies rounds out the incredible technology on display in these
next-generation vehicles.
The 2018 Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid is
expected to deliver a 42-mile all-electric driving range, with the ability to
utilize a hyper-efficient 1.5-liter Atkinson cycle 4-cylinder engine to deliver
an overall driving range of more than 330 miles. As for the 2017 Honda Clarity
Electric, drivers will be able to fully charge the car in just over three hours
at 240 volts for an expected driving range of 120/102/111 MPGe
(city/highway/combined).
