How To: Properly End a Lease

Are you looking to end the lease on your current vehicle? If so, let the knowledgeable staff here at Keyes Cars in Los Angeles, CA, help you out. Many drivers don’t factor in the end of a lease when they are first deciding between buying and leasing a vehicle. However, our finance department can help you review the terms of your lease, so you can be sure that you’re vehicle is ready to be returned at the end of your lease.

Here at Keyes Cars, we recommend checking the specific terms of your lease agreement to verify your specified mileage allotment and your end date. If you notice that you are significantly under your mileage allotment, we recommend speaking to a representative to extend the length of your lease. If you’re ready to turn in your vehicle for a new car though, be sure that you haven’t surpassed your mileage limit. If you have surpassed the mileage allotment, you may want to consider buying the vehicle from your lease, in order to reduce the fines you would need to pay.

About a month before you return your vehicle, be sure to get it properly inspected by a professional. This ensures that you have your own list of minor and major damages before you turn it into our dealership. Hopefully, this will help you be aware of any vehicular problems you might have and you can rectify them before you return your leased vehicle. If the majority of your damages are minor, talk to a representative at Keyes Cars and see if you can get the cost of the damages waived. Be sure to get your vehicle detailed before you return it and to remove all your personal belongings, so that your vehicle is returned in pristine condition.
