The New 2018 Chevrolet Equinox Does More with Less

The new 2018 Chevrolet Equinox has arrived at Keyes Cars, and if you’re looking for an agile crossover SUV, it’s your lucky day. The Chevrolet Equinox has been redesigned for 2018, and has shed about 10 percent of its mass compared to the 2017 model. That’s a loss of nearly 400 pounds! The result? This already impressive vehicle is now more nimble and responsive than ever before. Even better? The all-new body was designed and optimized to keep you and yours safe and sound.

Jill Dennis, lead development engineer on the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, talks about what drivers can expect from the new model: “Think of it as core strength training. The new [Chevrolet] Equinox’s structure is leaner yet stronger, resulting in efficient performance that inspires confidence while also creating a more fun, safe and comfortable driving experience. From accelerating to turning corners, the 2018 [Chevrolet] Equinox drives ‘lighter,’ which correlates with a greater feeling of precision.”

In addition to improving handling, the new, stiffer body structure is also better at preventing noise and vibrations, allowing for a quieter, smoother ride. Fuel economy has increased as well. But don’t think that “lighter” means “flimsier.” High-strength and ultra-high-strength steel has been strategically placed throughout the body structure to form the foundation of a robust “safety cage” that surrounds passengers. Combined with advanced restraint systems, and a host of standard and available safety features, this SUV is well-equipped to protect occupants in the event of a collision.

Inside, drivers can take advantage of ample cargo space, along with brand-new storage options to maximize that space. These include hidden underfloor storage, a flat cargo floor, and more.
